Clove Hitch

letoliboca The Clove hitch is useful in setting up 'biner blocks.

You make two loops out of the rope, and then clip the carabiner through as shown. If you are setting up a 'biner block you should put it along the spine of the 'biner, and not the basket. The application shown here is more commonly used in traditional climbing - although the method to tie the knot remains fundamentally the same.
