[edit] Linking to an entry that already exists

The easiest way to link to an entry that already exists is by adding double brackets around it like this. Then the link will link to the article that has the same name as the entry you just linked to. For instance this text Main Page will create this link: Main Page.

[edit] Using "piped" links to help make the link look better

If you are linking to another page that already exists, but the words don't quite fit into your sentence, you can use what is called a "piped link" to link to the page. The way you do this is to do write the link like this: text you want the link to read as For instance, I could write a link to the home page like this the home page and it would show up like this: the home page

[edit] Linking to a wiki entry that doesn't exist already

If you are linking to a wiki entry that doesn't yet exist, you follow the same procedure as above. Once you have inserted the link, hit preview. The wiki will automatically create a link for you to that new page - but it wont put any content in it. If you know enough about the topic to write more about it, you can go ahead and click on that link and it will take you to the edit page for that topic. When you edit that topic, you will be creating that page for the first time.

[edit] Creating a "wanted" page

It's perfectly acceptable to leave the new wiki entry unwritten. This will make the page one of the "wanted pages" that people will see from the Main Page. Perhaps some benevolent soul will see this in the list, realize they know enough about it to write about it, and write the article for everyone else to enjoy.
