Slings are sewn webbing loops. They come in a variety of lengths from short canyon quickdraws to over the shoulder loops for creating anchors. Sewn slings are typically stronger than a simple loop of webbing tied with a water or beer knot, as both of these decrease the strength of the webbing, the latter less than the former. As slings are generally more expensive than simple webbing, they are typically not donated to the canyon as part of an abandoned anchor.
