Talk:Advanced Canyoneering Anchors

HEY!

This is NOT an Omni-sling, so don't call it that. I re-labelled it as a "Pseudo-Omnisling".

This looks like the dicest thing I every saw. Why even present it?

Why present it? a couple of reasons. This web page is a list of interesting solutions to the problem of natural and releasable anchors. It contains lots of curious and marginal systems (sandbags, flicker knots, dowel anchors, knot chocks, the macramé knot etc, etc). Some are presented more for interest than for common use. Using a slipknot as a knot block may fall into that category. You could use a fancier exploding knot if you'd like, but it would be the same idea. It's not all that sophisticated and it's not all that reliable, but it's kind of interesting. If you'd prefer, I renamed the section Slip knot Knot blocks.

I was also hoping by starting the section "there are a few variations ... here is one way to rig it" that other folks might include some other variations. So far, no other input though. Thanks for your comments. Any other interesting, marginal, or (even better) useful and safe natural anchor and releasable anchor solutions?

As for the dicest thing you’ve ever seen? Come on now, is it really as sketchy as rapping off a sandbag? :-)
