-Doesn't Petzl make a pack that drains? --Ryan Gardner 00:44, 13 May 2005 (CDT)

-Petzl makes the ALCANADRE - a "sack for canyoning." I haven't seen one in person. The picture on the web site makes it look like a dry bag with straps.

The Petzl web page doesn't mention a drainage system. The Mountain Gear page says it is made from a "durable, abrasion-resistant material that is water repellant so your gear stays dry" suggesting the continued misunderstanding of canyon pack needs even by a good company starting to sell canyon specific gear. -I think whoever wrote the description on the Mountain Gear page was on crack. I've seen one of them in person - the entire side panel is a really beafy mesh. They sell them at REI. They are gigantic - maybe too big for canyoneering... You could carry three small children in one of them (if you were a strange person)

Check out the REI page that describes it: Canyoneering Pack. They mention the drainage mesh on the sides.

-Thanks for the tip. Petzl also has a smaller pack, but it is less avalible (ie it's at Summithut but not REI or Mountain Gear). Both packs are pretty pricy and appear to only have simple shoulder straps and no hip belt or daisy chain. Hmmm....less useful. John
